Barefoot issues - may be contentious

I will cause he has lovely feet, but I suspect you will be aggreived I am slapping shoes on him.

Well I won't and I doubt Lucy will either. We all have to balance our own needs with those of our horses and sometimes shoes are the correct solution for a partnership as they are for both you and Millitiger at the moment.

Most horses cope perfectly well with shoes and horses aren't usually pets to be kept as an ornament if they can't do the reasonable work that the owner would like to do.

I hope you get some sort of season to enjoy soon, if this darned rain ever stops!

What is concerning me slightly is the uneven wear I'm suddenly getting I think my farrier will have a right go at me. His toes are getting worn back and I worry about seedy toe etc. I am over dramatising but really just want to be able to work him without worrying about it being painful. We have an ODE coming up don't you know!!! We'll be walking round the XC at this rate!

Can you get your farrier to trot him up and see if he can find out why he's wearing his toes so quickly? Mine now has one of those slow video applications on his iPad which he uses to video lame/wonky horses so he can see in detail how they move and shoe accordingly. Does yours have anything like that he can use to look at his gait?

You could always think about booting him for work, if you're wanting to leave the shoes off?
