Can someone point me in the direction of a 'beginners guide'? I'm particularly interested regarding effect the hoof shape (natural vs shod) can have on structures further up the leg....

I've just finished watching the Pete Ramey DVD Under the Horse, and can highly recommend it. Really easy to follow and understand. Pretty basic, walks you through what to look out for and the structure of the hoof, whats important, the internal structure, right through to trimming, case studies etc.

Actually i can't recommend it highly enough! I've got a number of books on the subject but struggled with them all, so now after watching the DVD i will go back and see if they make sense. :D
