Has anyone experienced back soreness from ponies hacking with only 2 front shoes on? Could slight soreness in feet transmit through to back? Saddles checked regularly and backs. Thanks

Yes and yes. If you are doing a lot of roadwork the hinds will wear, just not as quick as the front would. A lot of back issues are in fact related to the hind legs. My boy came to me with a sore back which vet was pretty confident was to do with his hocks (it wasn’t in the end).

Yes, but it's equally likely that it's been caused by front foot pain in shod or unshod feet.

thanks both. It’s just a huge coincidence that both ponies have been hacking more recently and both getting sore in same place. I will get farrier out ASAP and get them balanced and shod behind. Will take them a while to re adjust a little I suppose.
