I am in the process of purchasing a big warmblood who is shod all round and I want to take him barefoot. Any good trimmers that cover Harrogate area?

Also would it be best for the trimmer to assess the hoofs before I get his shoes taken off? I don't want to be a bull in a china shop about it and I am worried that if I ask his current farrier he will want to convince me to keep shoes on him as it is a good chunk of money??

Advice please :)

Have you looked on the UKNHCP or EPAUK website yet? Try phoenixhorse forum too.

Have you asked if the current farrier has any barefoot horses? He may well have. If not then I would go by recommendations of either farriers or trimmers with working barefooters already on the books.

It's up to you whether you want to wait or not.

I would review diet first and budget for boots to have on standby.
