Quick Q: Is there any reason why, as long as I measure them properly, I could not use hoof boots on a shod horse? (Not for exercise - ridiculous creature keeps pulling shoes off in the lorry - no there is nothing wrong with my driving or his traveling, he is a bit special). Was planning to just travel him in covering boots, but they are megabucks and hoof boots are a lot cheaper, plus more available second hand. Any reason why I shouldn't?

No reason why not. Some will be easier than others, though. I imagine Cavallos and similar would be fine, whilst Epics would be more hassle than they're worth!

Ok, this is good! Please tell me which are going to be easiest, and how I measure up for them? I am being driven slightly demented by this repeated shoe-removal (horse always looks far too pleased with himself - at least it was on the way home this time!!).

Yes you can put them over shoes - this will invalidate any warranty but if you're just using for travelling it shouldn't be a issue for you

Take a look on the Easycare website, it gives you tips about measuring. I used the easy boot epics for my girl instead of shoes for some while, and really liked them. The ones with the gaiters attached (like the epics for eg) may be better for you as your horse shouldn't be able to pull the boot off.

I've been using the Cavallo boots and am getting on with them well. I travelled my horse in them yesterday as I didn't fancy getting them on whilst getting ready to go. They stayed on fine. He's not shod and you'd probably have to get them bigger for a shod hoof as they are a snug fit. They're easy peasy to put on, and couldn't be more uncomplicated!
