Evening all,

As title really I decided to take my 5 year old TB barefoot in december. It was our last option after exhausting all veterinary and remedial shoeing
avenues. I must at this point add I
wish this had been our first route for
treatment. It's been hard going but I
hope we are making progress at last!
I must also give my huge thanks to
Oberon who has given me so much
help and advice she has been
regularly reviewing my pictures and
our journey, she really has been so
generous with her time. Quick recap
the horse was diagnosed with impar
ligament damage and reverse pedal
bone rotation in his right foreleg back
in early September, he is also
bilaterally lame behind which is yet to
be investigated. Horse is now sound
in walk yippee!!! - during remedial
shoeing he was 6/10 lame and on 4
bute a day. He is still 2/10 lame on his
right foreleg in trot at present and I do
wonder if we will ever make it to full
soundness. I am going to ask my vet
to investigate hind leg lameness now
as insurance runs out in august. I
have posted some pictures of his feet
below which were taken today and I
would be grateful for your opinions:

I hope the pictures work as it my first ever attempt and it's taken me an hour!!!*

It looks to my novice eye like rather large changes are 'afoot' in his feet, think you will see a big difference in a few months. Are you letting him sculpt his own feet?

Thanks Victoria1980 - I have posted it on phoenix forum now.

Doncella - wow 30 months, I take my hat off to you! Its not easy is it?? I have found it so hard when we have had set backs but overall his feet have improved so much and it's worth sticking with it.

Ffionwinnie - you have made my evening I hope your right. We have had one trim in the three months and that was four weeks ago he is doing more road work now so I hope I can leave his feet to do their own thing.

12 weeks really isn't that long in the grand scheme of things :) Keep him moving, from the pics it looks like he has lovely feet beginning to grow down, another few weeks and you'll really notice a difference.

Sounds like you and him have been through a lot - good luck, I hope he comes right for you.

With reverse pedal bone rotation you need at least a full foot growth, sometimes two, so you are on the right track at twelve weeks.

Thanks for all you encouraging replies, seems like we are on the right track. The vet came out today and declared him sound on both hindlegs. So we are Going to keep up the good work and hope that the right forleg (reverse pedal bone and impar ligament damage) will come right in time.
