Had my girls on a diet of fast fibre and the necessary supplements for a month at least now, but my little mare who is the most un-fussy horse on the planet has stopped eating her fast fibre.

Any experiences of this and if they start to eat it again? Will reduce the amount again and pop in some extra chaff/put it in before she gets her hay to see if she eats it then but do not want to add anything to it to encourage her to eat it as her diet is no sugar.

Spillers hi fibre nuts were useful to get my lad to eat his vitamins. He's a good doer so only has half a scoop of speedibeet, handful of linseed, handful of copra meal and his vitamins. I found adding the hi fibre nuts made him lick the bucket clean, and they haven't done his feet any harm at all. :)

Some horses can be really fussy about the consistency of fast fibre. It may be that you are making it too sloppy for her tastes :p

I add a handful of Mollichaff Calmer as well and mine wolfs it down with that. He's a fussy eater too.
When he was poorly on box rest I used to really water it down as he wouldn't drink his water. I used to put a couple of those herbal equiglo treats in the green bags in the water first, let them dissolve so the herby flavours came out before adding the FF and fed him that, he guzzled that down.

I did think about adding some mint! :)

Made it less runny today (though still properly soaked) and just more than enough to mix in supplements etc and she ate it all so quite pleased. But if she goes off again will definitely put mint in. Thanks all :)

If I make the Fast Fibre too runny for the old man....he sighs and gives me a disappointed look that snaps my heart in two :(.

However - he likes it runny enough to drink some of the juice from it .

It does have a disturbingly diahorrea look to it when made up as per instructions....:-D

My mare likes to wait till I put the bucket down and then as I go to close the stable door she kicks the bucket so as it bounces back (flexi trug) a slop of FF slaps out of the bucket and hits me in the face. Then she gives me a wet brown FF kiss......:-O)

No wonder I added a bit of chaff....:-DDD

Just to say my new way of getting her to eat it also stopped being effective, so I caved and bought some NAF mint. Absolutely stinks but I put half a scoop in with her dinner and have never seen her eat it so fast! :p The bowl was practically pristine after she'd eaten she licked up every last bit. Hope it continues this way :D

I've been having the same problem been mixing the fast fibre with the chaff and supplements but when hes finished hes squashed all the fast fibre at the bottom and sifted out all the chaff  going to try and mix just with chaff tomorrow. Have just got some dried mint from ebay as well.

hope the mint works for you, mine certainly got a new taste for her tea tonight with it in :)
