Does anyone know any trainers in the yorkshire area, i don't nesacerily wish to become a qualified trimmer / make a career out of it but id like to learn the basics to be able to keep my trail horse in good shape between professional trims.
I keep getting let down by the professionals who imigrate or move out the area leaving me stuck trying to find a local trimmer at short notice and last time my horse went 12weeks and i used another farrier on the yard as couldnt source a new barefoot trimmer in the area and he ruined my horses feet they were unbalanced and misshapen and she ended up foot sore and un-rideable for 2months while her feet grew back out and could be re- shaped and balanced.
I am based in the outskirts of east leeds and would love to lean the bare basics of todying my horses feet up for emergencies and general hoof care for a barefoot trail horse

I am a qualified DAEP

Trained with KC la Pierre.

There are trainers who run 3 day courses in your area. And you could go on a 5 day course too.

Look at the main website for courses
Www.appliedequinepodiatry.net.

You will probably find that one is never enough as it is addictive!

Thats great thankyou, yeah i love to learn but where horses are concerend everything is so pricy, anything i can learn to help make the care of ym horse better and doesnt leave me relying on trades folk the better the ideal eventually is to eb able to dissaear off for days doing trail rides and i want to know i can do everything my horse might need whilst am out souch as a quick hoof tidy up, i always carry hoof boots and pads if required but trying to learn to do everything as natural as possible less tack the better already practicing liberty training and just love it

Thats great i will look her up as the appeal of australia and the states keeps luring all the barefoot trimmers from the area i went through 3 in the 2yrs i had my last horse and now have found a good farrier who comes into the area every 8 weeks and does a good balanced trim but its not the same as the barefoot trimmer. plus if therees any problems and he cant come on the set week we end up going to long with out a trim
