barefoot trimmers recommendations - Suffolk/Essex?

My farrier has unfortunately hinted that as I only have the one unshod horse he can no longer afford to come the distance he does for the amount he charges to trim (which I completly understand) so I thought I might taken the opportunity to have a barefoot trimmer look at her. We are on the suffolk / essex border.


ANy recommendations gratefully received, with thanks!

Lovely Lucy Priory has been to me once, due back 2 weeks ago but sadly not well at the moment.

My ex racehorse (and I !) finally went barefoot after a nightmare of shoes. we are now almost 8 weeks without shoes, on Lucy's brilliant diet, nail holes almost grown out, my fellow so much happier, and we are on boots when riding in the paddock.

But I will be needing some help before I can trim myself - any ideas on anyone as good as Lucy in East Suffolk?

I am in the same dilemma - have been using Lucy on the recommendation of this post for the last 6 months but poor Lucy obviously not in a situation to do much for a while. We are doing ok self trimming for the last couple of months and but really will need someone to check that we are heading along the right lines and I really don't want to go back to my farrier.

I am the same as you, but not ready to go it completely alone, Lucy is just so good at her job, I will feel lost without her visits to reassure me all is going well!:(
 
But not dead yet :-) you can always text decent photos and ill advise where I can :-). You'll be doing me a favour - the severe shortage of hoof porn in hosp is killing. :-)
 
Hello Lucy, lovely to hear from you, I only said to Romeo this morning " What are we going to do without Lucy"
Hope you are not feeling to horrid, I am sure you will get plenty of questions to keep you busy!
 
I'm fine really I just don't have an immune system for the moment so have to have lots of drugs and live in a 'clean' room - puts a whole new perspective on box rest. Send me your hoof porn!
 
I can really reccomend Sarah Swallow. She comes down to me in Herts and is based in Newmarket and definately coveres your area. She does a nice, considered, conservative (where required) trim and we have a good old natter and put the world to rights too :)

My boy's feet have improved tremendously since taking her on - so much so that we only see her every 12 weeks now... :)
