I know Oberon was kind enough to mention me and my boy today on a thread, so thought I would indeed post an update seeing as my trimmer came today.
Archie has been looking happier on his pins recently, although I haven't been riding or anything.

These are his feet before the trim today.

pic overload today. So then abi came and gave him a little trim and measured him up for some booties. He got the cheapest ones because a) Im poor, and b) they looked the nicest anyway! I thought that once on, they just looked like a pair of over reach boots, they are cavello ones if interested, there's a pic of them on at the end.
We put some on him and gave him a walk and do you know what...? He started landing heel first immediately! Fluke? Maybe, we will see how he goes in them next week, hopefully will start to do some riding which then should set up a positive cycle or regeneration...
Also got abi to take the back shoes off my other horse who is also starting his barefoot journey!! Just hinds to begin with, then we will hopefully get the fronts off in time too!

whew that got long, if you got to the end, then you are obviously interested!! :D
Whoop ETA completely forgot my question! He is out on the self contained arena 24/7 atm, which he seems okay with, just a little bored. I have a trickle ball which he adores, but Im unsure what to put in it, any ideas for low sugar treats that I can put in it for him (he's so greedy) They would need to be hard so they rattle around in it....?

Glad you noticed an improvement in your horses way of going. I rode my late girl in cavallos (she had rotation in one front) and she went so well in them, like a duck to water, she could cope with any terrain with ease in those boots, they were fab, good luck with your boys feet :)

Ah that's good to hear, that others like them! Thank you :)

Can you see the new angle of growth versus the old angle? That means a tighter connection of the coffin bone to wall, via the laminae.

Heels looking stronger.

Looks like the coronet around his quarters is relaxing too - which indicates less stress to the walls and likely will mean the coffin bone sitting higher in the hoof capsule.....hence a thicker sole and more comfortable horse.

Glad he is heel first in the boots - that will bring lots of internal healing when he does some more mileage.

Work still to do - but at least he's moving forward.

Thank you for sharing the pics.

Good news, thanks Oberon :) Im still not very good at spotting these things, but glad we have you to educate us! He is starting to look more concave on his sole as well I think. Can't wait to start riding again now he has boots! its very exciting. If the boots work as well as I am hoping, I will be whipping the fronts off my other horse as well! It just feels right for them to be barefoot, really hope we can keep the shoes off.

As the coronet relaxes, the coffin bone therefore sits higher in the hoof capsule - where it should be.

So you will get the concavity as the sole arches up.

It's all good :)

Excited for you to get riding again...how long has it been again?

Well I have been trying (in vain) to ride him for the last 3 years! Been riding him for short stints before he kept going lame again. Its been about 2months this time since I last sat on him :) We love our hacking so these boots could be a god send.

Having been following his progress since Dec, I am excited for you too;)
