Hello everyone, needing a bit of help here.
My dogs won't stop barking!!!
no matter what i do, squeak a toy, shout on them to get down from the window, tell them off, send them to their bed, close the curtains! every trick in the book, they just take the pi**!
It's starting to annoy the neighbours and disturbs families sleep.
Both dogs are friendly and not aggressive, i live in a semi-detatched house with large gardens, the dogs get plenty of exercise, attention and are pampered (but not too spoiled)
we have tried them on a herbal calmer to take the edge off as they seem to be very anxious about who's passing.
But any advice would be amazing!

:)

how much exercise is plenty?
what type of dogs are they? (age, breed etc)
what do you fed them?
What sets them barking?
What ground rules do you have?
how often are they left and for how long?

They come to the yard with me every night and run around for around 2 hours, they have the garden to play in all day (they are out a good four hours in the morning chasing each other about) and they go a long walk 5-6 times a week

they are jack russles x

they are both on 100g's worth of food per day split in to two, (nutritionist recommendation) they have hard food (welbeloved)

they are left for a maximum two hours twice a week (if that)

I saw a programme some time ago with a similar problem and the owners had to teach the dogs to speak on command by using treats. the idea was they told dog to speak ,then said stop and treated as soon as the dog stopped, not while he was still barking..then they should understand what you are asking...might be worth a try...good luck

I am going to try this. My youngest set the others off and it is hugely annoying! Particularly as she then shuts up and leaves the others still barking...

Mine are allowed to "warn" me. If I say "Enough", that means stop barking. It may not be acceptable on here (?) but I use/used a squirty water bottle with mine if they didn't listen to voice command. Always rewarded when good

Mine are Chi's.
