Barnsby in Recievership?

So my saddler in France tells me.

I am so sad as my first ever saddle was a second hand Barnsby, which I still use for backing youngsters.

Does anyone have any information?

That is a shame but I cannot say I am surprised I have tried a few times to get a barnsby saddle and I never hear back...

Yes, they have, very sad. We used to sell Barnsby saddles & some of their new designs were becoming very popular. I don't think it is a big secret, but the property & patterns, trees etc have been purchased by Ideal so hopefully they will be doing some of their better sellers

Yes saw this in the ETN, was on the cards though for a long time, everyone is struggling. I don't hardly get any hand made saddlery to make now, it's all modern massed produced stuff.
It's very sad to see Barnsby go, when I trained we aspired to make saddles as good as theirs, they are legendry but I feel a fair few more of us will go yet

Sadly you are right. I have been in this business for over 30 years & have seen many good names disappear.
