Just Looking!!!!! into buying a new saddle for all round use, i want close contact and a deep seat and read about the new Barnsby saddle in the the Rider mag, BRC. That has been tested by BRC and know Eventers, Barnsby used state of the art gait analysis and Pliance pressure testing technology. But can not find the saddle model/name... Can any one help

I am interested in this too as I have just phoned them today about getting them out for a saddle fitting and would be interested in any opinions good or bad. sorry to jump in on your thread.

Hmm, their newest saddle is the Xtreem. I have the close contact version (single flap) and love it. however, it most definitely doesnt have a deep seat!!

Have also ridden in the Milton Jump saddle, the Milton pro saddle, a shockemole and their GP's and DR saddles!!!. Love their saddles, they are beatifully made and their tress are very well designed. If you want a deep seated jump saddle, I would either go for the Milton pro (wool flocked) or the schockemole which is cc panel, with a slightly deeper seat and bigger blocks.

ETA their website is www.barnsby.co.uk

I have just a normal GP Barnsby saddle, which is fab.
A girl at my yard has the new Xtreem event saddle. As yet I haven't ridden in it, hope to this week if I can, but from what I can tell/see when she rides in it, it doesn't give you a very secure deep seat. This could just be the horse (big big warmblood) and the fact the rider is tiny so he bounces her about.

Irishcobs, how long has she had it? Mine took about 2-3 weeks to "bed in" until I felt like I was sat in a saddle as opposed to "on" it

Once you get used to it though, you do feel more secure

Umm she must of got it 3 months ago now. She has always said she finds it really comfortable and feels secure but then she would after daddy spent so much money on it.
If I get a sit on this week I will let you know what I think.

The saddle, Quote from the magazine says... the ultimate all-round saddle to meet the needs of BRC and Eventers, and have subsituted the tree for a design that suits thoroughbreds and part T/B's with retaining the ASP ( adjustable point system) It's not the extreem saddle.

LMAO! Fair enough, the prob is with the single flap CC saddles, some people can ride in them, and some just cant...

The barnsby took me a bit of getting used to, and I have been used to single flaps. I didnt pay stupid £ for mine, so would have just sold it again if I hadnt got used to it

My horse came with a 3 month old custom fit barnsby and it is still the most comfortable saddle which fits him.

It is 7 years old now and still looks great.

I regularly ride in a single flap CC Prestige saddle (old but still good) so it will be interesting to see the difference. I doubt I will like it though as I like deep seated saddles.

I have a Barnsby saddle which is approx 17 years old now and still looks and feels like brand new (and that's no exaggeration) my hubby (then b/f) bought it for me for £900 then and its been worth every penny.

Mary King rides in one. I used to have a fairly old version of the PC GP - best saddle I've ever had but unfortunately had to sell it with my pony a it didn't fit my horses, I really liked it's low cantle. Highly recommend them

OH has the Xtreeme, it is a little big in the seat for me, we use it on 2 large horses 1 TBxID 17.2 and a warmblood !8.1. I am sure that it has saved me from two nasty falls, once when the horse found a 5th leg and just managed to stay on his feet and another that stopped dead and jumped sideways when a dog ran at it when we were in a good xc canter! Both times the people I was with couldnt believe I didnt fall off. The seat isnt that deep but it really helps you balance.
Both daughters have Barnsby dressage saddles and love them
