I'm on the hunt for some long sleeve base layer type tops as it's getting to that time of year that jumpers next to go to the back of the wardrobe.

I've got a few before from sport & soccer for a very reasonable price, just wanted to know if anyone knew of some horsey shops that sell them or indeed any other sports shops that sell them. I've found running shops often sell nice ones but there tends to be a premium on the price!

Try an outdoors shop (Blacks, cotwsold, go outdoors) and see if you can get a merino one - they are fab! not only nice and warm in the winter/cool in the summer but also go lots of wears and don't smell!! :)

Helly Hansen. Probably not the cheapest but it does a great job. Black's sell them.

When the Blacks in York was closing down a few years back, the Helly Hanson base layers were being sold of for £2.99. I bought 71 of them, 28 of which were even in my size!

It is so worth paying a bit more and getting merino, seriously. I have a few different makes and they are all good so worth shopping about online. Watch for them on special in Aldi, their make is as good as anything else. Sport pursuit is another place to look.

Icebreaker merino. I live in it. I have 2 200 weight base-layers, a 260 base-layer and a 260 mid-layer and they're pretty much all I wear day to day unless it's above 15 degrees! They can go for weeks without washing (sorry, sounds so grungy!) if you keep your actual self clean :-)

this!
Also Mountain Warehouse stores are really good for cheap base layers, fleeces, socks etc.
They often have sales, bogof offers etc.
