How many times have I done this ? Shy was behaving like a gent, we went for a tiny hack, came back, and BAM, straight into the metal gate that we go thru all the time, so I know the goddam thing is there.

I now have a very sore, bruised knee to add to my sprained ankle, that just won't heal up. Is it just me that is soooo accident prone ?

Hmmph

My mum caught her leg from ankle to knee on a gate post (the last gate on the hack) on august bank holiday monday, she hasn't been able to ride since!
She has had so many problems, not only brusing but infection etc.

I hope you have a much quicker recovery :)

blimey, hope your mum gets well soon ! I think it's my pride in having lost my non- gate-bashing- for -the -year status.

Tho I haven't fallen off straight onto my head for some months now, so that'll be my new record.

Aww, hope ypou feel better soon!

I got my leg caught in the post & rail fence round the school because the pony was doing his stupid bendy thing. Gotta love beautiful big, purple bruises. Not.

I did exactly the same thing out hunting last wednesday... Thursday morning woke up and couldnt weight bare at all... Vet wrapped it up and hobbled on with the day. Lots of deep heat later and it's ok now, still a bit bruised though.

a friend of mine once caught her leg on one of those gate fasteners that are shaped a bit like a triangular hook...

she was riding through, something happened to make her horse shoot through the gate, fastener impaled her leg (shin area) made her scream so horse bolted... she was left hanging on the gate by her leg. numerous operations later, she's very lucky to still have a leg...

I did the same a couple of years back - horse looking for an excuse to get home spooked and bolted around an L-bend. She made the corner and I left my knee and half the saddle flap on the fence post.

Pulled up, looked down and noticed my knee cap round the side of my leg

And what spooked the horse? a lady in the bushes walking, yes WALKING her cat  (she was in the bushes because the cat had gone up a tree with her on the other end of the lead?!)

sigh!
x

LOL about the cat! Do the knee bashing thing rarely but do the foot bashing thing alot - spot the penguin toed rider!!!!!!!

Hope you heal well. xxxxx
