Hi all, I want to take out a ‘basic’ no frills insurance policy for my 15 year old mare. Something primarily to cover field type accidents, maybe colic and might cover something towards the cost of disposal etc when that time coms. Does anyone have any recommendations please?

I've just renewed mine. I ended up going with SEIB for accidents, tack, disposal as a result of an accident and it includes personal accident and public liability. This involves putting a non veteran on a veteran policy.

I looked at Harry Hall and WHW but once I'd upped it to a higher level, factored in membership and added extras it wasn't as competitive.

KBIS also offered an option but were a bit more and my original insurer Shearwater couldn't cover tack anymore though do have an accident policy.

I’ve got WHW for my 4 retiree’s. None would have major intervention or investigation so it suits me to just have that extra bit of a safety net in case of accident and £145 for all 4 was great.
There are probably better types of very basic cover out there for a single horse though.
