Basset x poodle???

Has anyone heard of such a mix? I haven't seen it with my own eyes but a livery on my yard has one. Now, she's also got a Lakeland terrier bitch who she wants to breed from.... Basset x poodle is an un neutered male.... Do ya see where I'm headed???

The lady is lovely and is def not doing it for any monetary gains. She just Lurves puppies! I don't know her that well so what do I say when she talks about it?? Give me some good ideas of how I can put her off please!

People who buy these mixes are fueling a trade of irresponsible breeding. Why cross random breeds like that when she could get a nice stud dog but have to pay money for a proven one thats way she wont pay for a stud dog. Also when dogs have mated the male ones can change totally. Another reason why so many males end up in resuce centres.

Personally, I like cross breeds (happy accidents some of them!) but I cannot think of a more irresponsible thing to do, nor an unsavory crossing of two very very different type dogs (basset x poodle) and then to put to a lakie? What are people thinking!

I would have thought a basset cross poodle would be a disaster, a bright intelligent dog crossed with one with such a hunting instinct. and then the hairy ears, but extremely long so problems with ear infections possible. Then add to the mix the tenacious lakeland and oh god. Something that can work out how to escape, track and keep going for ever, hope she has a secure garden]
