The Caprilli jumping saddle is LOVELY! I adored mine, but had to sell it as it didn't fit the horse and I wanted a new dressage saddle so needed the money I miss it! So secure, so comfortable!
Used to have one for my last horse, I loved it very comfortable and secure.
I now have a Wintec Isabell Werth dressage saddle for my current horse. I am also after a wintec close contact, I would like the bates one but dont think there is a huge difference except price?
I do think the Bates GP is much nicer than the Wintec GP though.
If you already have a dressage saddle I would definatly go for the Bates close contact over the GP. TBH I find the Bates GP worse than useless for jumping as the cantle is pretty high, and I find I can't get my stirrups short enough. I also don't find it any good for dressage, hence my Bates GP is called the 'no-purpose' saddle!!!!!! Used purely for breaking the youngsters.
I think the bates close contact is very good value for money, and I happily rode at 1* level eventing in mine, and found it alot more secure than other more expensive makes. I use the Bates close contact now on my young horses eventing upto Novice level, once they go Intermediate I do find I need a slightly flatter seat, but by which point they are then grown up enough to get a made to measure to last them throughout their career.
The GP was also impossible to ride in with a BP on, as the cantle was so high it kept catching the bottom of my BP, certainly not a XC saddle, and no good if you want to jump bigger than about 2'6"!!!!!!!!
