How much would you pay for a second hand bates dressage saddle with cair in black?

Just curious as looking at one to buy and wondered the average price range for one of these.

Also, would be great to have your opinion on this particular saddle!

Thanks :D

Oohhh I would be interested in this too as I am looking. :)

I have seen a couple on ebay at £300 plus postage if thats any help. (thats the lowest I have seen them).

Absolutely lovely saddles - I've had several and currently have a Bates GP.

What type of dressage saddle is it? The Olympia Range are the cheaper ones - part leather part synthetic and the Caprilli the more expensive ones - all leather.

When I had the riding school I'd buy up any second hand Olympia saddles I could get. They place the rider nicely and seem to fit an amazing range of horses.

I was looking at the full leather version :D

I mainly do dressage and have a wintec GP at the moment for everything, but that will be my jump hacking saddle once ive sorted a dressage.

Are they comfortable saddles?

Do they fit a wide range of horses? I have a Welsh D, obviously I would get it fitted, I really wanted a kent and masters but they don't have any in 16.5

Hi, I was looking at new dressage saddles earlier this year in March, my horse is 16.1hh warmblood x Welsh D. My saddler brought a few to try which was the Bates, Amerigo, Albion and two others which I can'y remember. My favourite was the Albion (which I bought) then the Amerigo. I didn't really get on with the Bates.

As a fitter of wide horses and ponies I'd say it would be unlikely to fit many Welsh Ds - at the right price it's always worth a punt, but personally I'm not a fan of the Wintec tree shape for any horse, but definitely not for wide, flat types:

The tree is too narrow in the head and not flat enough from front to back, plus the issue in the link above.
