Just wanted some feed back on Bates saddles, for example the Bates Elevation DS jump saddle with Cair?

Cair or flocking?

and

Are the new cair comfort girths really any better for your horse?

Thanks

Ive got two Bates saddles with Cair and I LOVE THEM!!

They are SO comfy. Ive got the caprillie close contact jumping saddle and the GP saddle and they are both fab.

Ive also got a cair girth for Archie, coz he's REALLY girthy and cold backed this has worked wonders. It does take a while for them to get used to it though! First time Arch had it on, he bronked round and round for abotu half an hour (on the lunge!!!) But he's fine now and it was defo worth the £100 I spent on it!

Thank you ML, also are they more suited to a certain shape of horse, obviously I know they have the changeable gullet but just wondered if they are more suited to a paricular back shape/breed?

Yes I think they are, coz they dont fit everything!
Ive had my Bates jumping saddle on about 6 different horses, none of which have had much wither. So Id say they are better on horses that dont have a big wither.
But Ive have these saddles on all different shapes and sizes!!

Arr right, hmm in that case they may suit Mr M but probably not Pyrus, thank you that helps, if they fit similar to the wintec in which case I may try the wintec cc on Mr Mr, he's quite 'donkey backed'...rather flat and not much drop.

Where as Py does have a wither, however he's got broad spine then he drops down at the sides, cc's don't seem to work with him.

food for thought though

Have a Bates event and Bates GP, both with Cair and love them. Also have a wintec pro jumping with Cair, which does sit slightly differently (and needs a slightly narrower plate in it). The Wintec and Event are on a medium/wide ISH, who doesn't have a lot of wither, and the GP is on a 21yo mare, it fits her fine, despite gravity having taken over and everything having dropped a bit, leaving a fairly pronounced wither. With the correct gullet in, the Event saddle fits her really well too (in fact, it has fitted all 3 horses we have used it on well).
