Hi all

Has anyone had a 16hh horse in one of these comfortably. He is quite long takes a 6'6-6'9 rug (most are 6'9). I just would like to know if I would be pushing it before I spend the money!

Thanks

I have a Bateson Derby. It is a super trailer, very lightweight, airy and light inside.
It might be a bit of a squeeze with the center partition in but shouldn't be a problem without it. It's not designed to take 2x 16 hh for example. There is plenty of room heightwise though. The partition removes very easily.

Brilliant thank you!

Now you can get one and down plate it !

Yup! Going to see one tomorrow. Also I spoke to a dealer jsw I think who said they had just been told you don't have to downplate any more. But it's on you to make sure you aren't over the limit. They advised to go to weigh bridge and get a certificate though. I might still downplate though only costs £10.

I travelled a 16hd TB in one , he took a 6'3 or 6'6 rug and travelled quite happily in it, no trouble to load.

Thanks! I have measured him tonight and will see it compares tomorrow with the trailer but having done this I think he will be ok.

Do nt know where they got that info from but its legally incorrect

They said they got it from bateson. Nice to know it's incorrect I'd better get it down plated then! Thanks!
I called them and they said Bateson had something from VOSA !! which said as much .... but VOSA are not the licencing authority - DVLA are

They said they would forward the letter to me if they ever got it from Bateson

Oh dear the chap I spoke to obviously wasn't quite as clued up as you are! Bit dodgy to be giving out false information, good job you spoke to them.

Having had an old Ifor trailer and now a new Batesons Ascot, I lie the Batesons as they seem to be lighter etc. A couple of friends have had new Ifors after upgrading and have found that their horses do not travel as well, I have been told that it is because the trailers are more apeingy

I think because the floor on the Bateson is lower to the ground I find it doesn't sway and rock as much, it's also less noisy and doesn't rattle about. Also as the floor is low, so is the ramp which makes loading more inviting.

Thanks all. I've put a deposit on the trailer so now to get it home and see how he likes it! We took it for a spin and it was so light didn't even notice it on the car. Better still it was so easy to move by hand.
