So Daisy has become more liver and black coloured than liver and white and when I gave Josh's bum a scratch there was muck on my fingers! yuk!
So I thought I'd give the pair of them a bath much to their disgust!
So why is it that I'm wetter than them and the bathroom floor looks like a swimming pool!

Wot no photos?

I only bathed Henry at home once - he reacted to the shock by shedding all over the bathroom floor until it looked like some kind of seventies shagpile monstrosity

Sounds like a typical bath time. I always end up soaked and bedraggled.

The beauty of owning a small dog, however, is that the mess and water can be contained. We like to use the kitchen sink for Stella's biannual torture time

Is this really necessary?

Ugh. Hate you.

Ahh - that face says it all! Daisy actually ran outside and refused to come back in afterwards in case I shoved her back in the bath again. Unfortunately Josh just thinks its necessary to roll everywhere so now the downstairs carpets and the sofa are also wet.

Sweep is exactly the same!!

I have to barricade the bathroom door shut and then wrestle him into the bath. He then wriggles and jumps out at every opportunity!!

This is the same dog who spends his life running down the track to sit in the brook for hours on end all year round

.......As you say the worst bit is actually when he gets out - obviously his big thick fleecey spaniel coat absorbs enough water to drown in which then gets spread liberally around the house, its carpets, the furniture, my bed.......

Ahhh, welcome to my world.d That's why when I'm working I wear parachute material tops - they dry so fast!

However, a wee tip - if you've got a way to tie your dog in - use a slip lead that you don't mind getting wet, tie them up short enough so they can't jump out. Use a rubber mat in the bottom of the bath (good idea to not leave them unattended either) so they can't slip and choke. Have every thing ready before you need it and work fast!

And don't open the bath door til you're ready for the carnage of running / rubbing dog evewhere.

Or better yet, send them to me!

Bathing Barney used to take three people - one to hold the front end, one to hold the back end and one to do the bathing.
One time in particular me, my mum and a mate were in the process of doing this when the doorbell went. My mate had the back end (lucky girl) so she went down only to announce it was the gas meter man, so then my mum went to show him where the meter was... well you can guess what happened, Barney made a break for it and the poor gas man has to get a meter reading while a soapy labrador ran round and round the house spreading bubbles everywhere while three hysterically giggling women tried to corner him to carry him back upstairs (his legs always mysteriously stopped working on bathday so we had to carry him up!

I took the dogs for a walk at lunchtime and Daisy has rolled in foxpoo!!!!! She stinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've had to bath her for the 2nd time in 2 days - she is not impressed - I'm at work so its been a bucket of water job in the back yard.
She's now shivering and looking like the hardest done to little soul in the N.E. SHOULDN'T ROLL IN FOXPOO THEN!

I feel for you all. Having had nightmares to shampoo for the last 40 mumble years I have now got the dream dog. Put bathmat in the bottom of bath, lift dog in and he just stands without moving until he is lifted out. Plus he does not shake until he is outside. How did I cope with collies and GSDs. It is retired racers for me now.
