Hello, my boy is quite grubby: not mud, it's more grease/dandruff/loose hair and this is making him look a bit dull. I am off to our first dressage show on Saturday (eeekkkkk!) and I'd like him to be super squeaky clean and shiny. I've tried grooming and it just makes it worse, so hoping to bath!

Any tips for a dirty dales?

Warm water! Pop your shampoo in to the water (no fairy liquid it is the stuff of the devil :P), swish it about then sponge on. Use a brush to give a good scrub and massage in one. Rinse with clean warm water and bob's your aunty. Can you tell I'm a bathing obsessive?!! If you've got white bits cowboy magic is great for spot treating. If you've got a coloured or a grey then a slug of it in the bath water is good. Mane and tail if you fancy but obviously that depends on plaits. Have fun and good luck :D

Another vote for warm water and shampoo. My tip is in this weather your horse will dry quickly so only wash one section at a time. Don't wet him all over and then start to wash because by the time you finish his neck and shoulders, his rump will be dry.
