Bathing before clipping

Is it ok to dry shampoo before clipping instead of normal bathing, by the time I clip weather is going to be pretty cold and dont think the girls are going to take kindly to be bathed with cold water Or should i just shut up and get on with it?

I always wash after clipping easier to do and they dry quicker........although I usually do it after I ride for the 1st time clipped so they aren't standing cold!!
