Do you? How often?
I don’t, never have done. They all get a regular warm hose at the moment after walking to de-mud but I don’t shampoo as routine.

Today Cecil rolled in fox poo. This was only discovered when we had come indoors, couldn’t see anything but could smell him 🤢

Couldn’t be bothered to go back out to the yard and wash him so we went upstairs to the bath and I showered and shampoo’d there. I was pretty shocked at the grime that came out 😳
He’s very short haired and always feels and looks clean and shiney.
Was pretty horrified (as was he at the trauma of this situation!)

Do you bath properly on a regular basis?

I've never bathed my collies but need to as their both old & very stinky but my terrier does get bathed every 3 months or so but that's mainly as I clip him.

My friend is a dog groomer and reckons regular baths are fine when they live indoors. Don’t need to have waterproof oils etc. having said that my Lurcher hasn’t had a bath since last summer!

I can understand breeds who’s coat needs maintaining.
My mum used to make us bath our dog weekly as kids and I always thought she smelled worse afterwards!
Interestingly she was also a very itchy dog in general, probably why, I doubt we used any special shampoo. Probably what was in the bathroom at the time. That’s actually what I did tonight 😳 I swear we do own dog shampoo but I couldn’t find it.
There is the obligatory bottle of fox poo shampoo outside just incase!

I very much look forward to the ground drying up and not having to wash feet and legs all the time! It’s pretty time consuming.
If I take them for a quick race round the fields it takes longer to wash them all off than the actual walk at the moment.

The BC x GSD gets a bath roughly every 2 months or so.

The whippet gets a leg shampoo about once a month, however I should do it more. He pisses on his legs, so he has a pissy hum about him 🙈

The lurcher next to never gets a bath. Maybe once or twice a year.

So interested in this question as it seems on social media that people are forever bathing their dogs. Just never bath mine. We rarely encounter anything smelly they are likely to roll in. They go in the sea a lot and coming home they go in a stream that I feel cleans the salt off.
I do groom every day , coats look shiny and healthy and never smell.
Flatcoated retrievers, by the way.
I did meet a couple of Goldens out on a walk in the week, they were quite muddy and I did wonder if mine only looked clean because she is black!! 😁🐾

I only give a full bath on special occasions 🤣 my lab is pretty clean but my goldie gets really dirty, obviously he has a longer coat so mud just sticks more. If they are really mucky they will get a shower off

Dex only gets bathed when he goes for a clip, usually twice a year.
Buster doesn't go to the groomers any more, so I gave him a shower this week, not sure who was wetter, me or him 🙄
Over the winter he has had daily, or twice daily leg twice washes with the hosepipe, or if he has puddle fail, head wash

Isn't dog shampoo just the same as shampoo with a different label 😂
Edited to add, they are both white(ish)

Six yr old GSD has never had a bath, neither has this greyhound. Previous greyhounds have had one or two at arrival time to remove kennel smell/coats.

I bath the Lab when she smells and if I can catch her (she's fast and hates baths) but GSD gets bathed twice a week per vet advice for her allergic to everything skin.

No, unless absolutely necessary, they are working spanners and need the oils in their coats, I overheard a conversation in the pet shop the other day a lady wanting something to make her dogs coats less dry as she had to shampoo them everyday as she doesn't like them smelling like dogs.....WTF??
