Battery water pump - any ideas?

Hi all,

With all the nice weather, my rainwater butts have run dry & I'm thinking of possible solutions for the summer. I have access to a large deep pond, which the horses drink from when in that field so I'm thinking I could get water from that & transport to their other field with a quad & IPC or bowser. But I can't work out how I could fill the thing up. I've tried searching for "battery water pump" but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. Does anyone do this & could you point me in the direction of the kind of thing I would need - assuming such a thing exists!

Would pond water not be a bit dirty and stagnant' perhaps not I don't really know.

I think you need what is called a bilge pump, I think boat people use them, might be worth asking in a shop that sells boating supplies.

I used a caravan water pump to pump water from an auto trough. OH put crocodile clips on the end so I could connect it on a battery and I just attached a garden hose. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/183213497730

Or you can use a bilge pump which is essentially the same thing.

Bilge pump is significantly more expensive than caravan water pump but does pump greater qty per minute.
