bbc sports personality short list

No Scott Brash. :(

Not a hope as the man in the street would have no clue who he was. long gone are the days of my youth when ,Harvey smith,Ted& Liz Edgar ,David Broome,Marion Coakes(mould )etc etc was known to most people, as sad as that is

Apparently they picked 'significant' sports. Not quite sure what that means, but the short list is made up of three track and field athletes, so athletics is a bit over subscribed IMO. However I am sure you can make a very good case for all three so would be hard to split. The short list was extended to include Tyson Fury and Andy Murray because of their exploits over the weekend.

Its such a shame because we have so many world champions across all sorts of sports, not just equestrian disciplines.

I think I can predict the results. Jess Ennis-Hill for the individual and England's womens football team for the team award.

I looked up the bookies and they have Jess as favourite with Andy Murray just behind and for the team award the Davis Cup team is 25/1 on !!

Yes surely AP will get the lifetime achievement award, I can't think of anyone who deserves it more and he really does deserve it. Real shame Scott Brash didn't make the list though, I'd much rather see him there than Tyson Fury or Lewis Hamilton.

I have never understood this competition. Is it about success, if so, why is the word personality in the title? Is it about personality, if so, why have some previous winners had no discernible personality? The BBC picks the shortlist, so is it a vote on people's favourite sport?

I agree with you 100%.

I agree - it's such a non-award. And how can it be "of the year" when they bung people in at the last minute simply because they had one successful / high profile weekend?!
