I've just received my copy of dressage magazine and checked the dates for the CT series on the back page. I was disappointed to see the 20 qualifiers were nowhere near me.

Does anyone know if these are the only shows that will be holding CT all year or will there be other shows that hold CT that aren't qualifiers? I would really like to do some CT this year but was hoping to try some a bit closer to home and see how we got on rather than travel a silly distance to a qualifier - but if they are the only ones that are on offer I might be tempted as a one off. Just wondered if any of you dressage peeps on here know how often, if ever, venues near you hold CT or is it just those 20.

Thats what I thought - and its very rare we get any unaffiliated round here either. I'm sure last year they held them at Northallerton which would only be a 90 minute drive for me but they don't seem to be on the list this year.

Well it looks like the closest one will be Manor Grange Farm in West Yorkshire but I have no idea where that is so don't know how practical it will be. There is also one on the Scottish border that might be an option - I will have to consult the map.
Edited to add - I've just discovered where Manor Grange Farm is and its would be about a 2.5h drive away so not too bad if the CT isnt the first class of the morning.
 
If its any help Manor Grange is about 1 hour- 1 1/2 hours from Richmond. Its a good venue to get to as its straight off the motorway.
They used to do them at Northallerton but looking at the schedule they have cut down on the number of competitions they are holding.
 
Hi Nat - thanks for that - I'm often at Richmond for BD and BSJA - it normally takes me about an hour and a quarter to get there so I guess it'll be about 3h ish to Manor Grange then. The other possibility is Border Union at Kelso which I'm guessing would be another 3h job. I will ask my mum as I'm sure she used to go to dog shows there so she should have a rough idea of travelling time to get there.

Excellent, thank you! A couple fo local ones then, will see how broke I am towards end of season as ones near me are late in season. Am thinking of affiliating BD this year at some point anyway
