Today I did my first ever BD event.

It was touch and go as to whether or not I was going to bother going as we really aren't ready.

However, I figured my fees were paid and I should just go along for a jolly and see how things work.

The first test I did was Novice 22. We got the lowest mark in the class BUT I didn't expect any less. However on the upside I was within 10% of most of the competitors.

The second test was Prelim 10. (Part of combined training) I was ever so pleased with how he went in this class we weren't last in the marks with this test.

The jumping I messed up and got us eliminated (LOL) but again, not bothered as we had fun.

It all reads pretty badly from a competitive point of view but from my piont of view he worked as well here as he would have at home. So he gave his all, I stayed relaxed (There's a first)!!

The judges sheets didn't say anything that I didn't already know so now I need to just carry on as we are and keep improving. (Easier said than done huh)?

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The BD crowd was ever so friendly to me and very welcoming. The venue (Tall Trees Arena) was very well organised and friendly.

Not a lot to report but I am ever so happy with my gorgeous boy. What a hunk.

Hi
I was wondering how you had done, well done for your first one

I still have not entered one yet as was diddling around deciding and missed the entries for Frensham.
How does it work for the combined, I take it dressage first and is jumping in another ring? did you get to course walk? and what height?

Well done again nice to know everyone is friendly

The Combined training was Dressage in one arena and Jumping in another.

I only did the Prelim which was 2'9" jumping.

Yes we had plenty of time to course walk.

I look forward to your report very soon
