Apparently the Happy Mouth flexi bit (it's kind of a mullen mouth) is not BD legal. Although I'm having trouble working out why, from reading the rule book. I thought this might be a good alternative; http://www.ayrequestrian.co.uk/flex...the-horse-bits-happy-mouth-and-rubber-covered but isn't there some rule about the mouthpiece being made of all the same material???

Also, although he likes the plastic bit the most, it's very thick for his mouth and means that his tongue sort of pokes out. He has a tiny little pony face, takes a 4.5" bit... I noticed that Happy Mouth do bradoon equivalents, which look much more proportional to him. Is it really wrong to use one instead of a standard snaffle? Would I get eliminated from dressage run under BD rules?

Thanks guys :) I know I should just email someone at British Dressage really :p

The Happy Mouth isn't legal because of the bumps on the mouthpiece. If it was smooth it would be fine.

The one you've linked is legal - mouthpieces no longer have to be made of the same material.

Is that peanut joint a roller in the middle? I only ask as a friend and I were discussing bits with a roller in the middle at the weekend (sorry for hijacking BTW)
