After a disaster at our first Novice dressage a few weeks ago where I learnt N24 (2002) not realising that there is a new and totally different N24 I have just been on dressage diagrams to buy the test I need for next time N27.

Having paid for it I have discovered it is exactly the same as my outdated N24!

WTF?????????

The only difference I can see is that they have used the words lengthened strides rather than medium trot and ask you to walk for a horse's length rather than 4 steps. Was it really worth withdrawing the test? And why change the number? If they had reworded the test and left the number the same then I wouldn't have been beeped!

Grrrrr

Sometimes the actual movements are exactly the same except the way the movements are broken into sections for marking are different. Like you might get 10 marks just for the transition whereas before it was included as part of movement. ie forwards to canter and 20m circle etc
I found when they changed N21 to whatever number it is now my marks for riding the same test dropped as it was broken up into more sections :-(

Still wish they had left the number the same even if they had changed the marking. So frustrating to have bought a new sheet and found it is the same as the old one! Even more frustrating that I got beeped.

Oh well silver lining is that I have got a head start on learning N27!

Yes I agree. Might as well leave the number the same and call it a revised version or 2013 version or something like that???

I think the give and retake changed place so its not exactly the same as the old 24. Used to be across the diagonal and is now up the long side.

Yes and I think when 21 changed to 28 you walk onto the final centre line instead of trot so it was v slightly different too
