BD Open / Restricted Section query

Okay, I have a few points at medium level from several years ago when I rode a schoolmaster. This means that at the moment, I can only compete in Novice and Elementary Open sections.

I have qualified for the Winter Regionals at Novice

and am aiming to now qualify at Elementary before the cut off date (end of November I think - please correct me if I'm wrong).

Question is, if all goes to plan, can I then qualify for Elementary Restricted after the rule changes on 1/12/07?
 
i think...off the top of my head that if u qualify for the open section u have to then ride at open level, i am not sure tho whether u can qualify for open winter regionals but restricted summer regionals (which i guess is what u mean)...perhaps ring BD...they r normally really helpful with queries like this

also it may mean that u cant ride at the winter regionals in the open section there, u will have to nominate ur catagory and perhaps u will be automatically re routed to the restriced winter regionals if u have qualified for open...if that makes sense!

Thanks FinnMcCoul - I have found it so difficult in the Open section and been beaten by so many pro's - couldn't stop smiling when I found out! I won't have a hope in hell at the regionals, but it will still be an experience.

Thanks all for your help - I will give BD a ring to clarify and see whats involved in changing the section to restricted.
 
I think you will have to compete in the section you have qualified for, so if you change to restricted after you have qualified you will have to compete open at the regionals.
 
Oh yes, rereading your original post more carefully, LauraT and nat1003 are quite right......if you've qualified in the Open section then you will have to do the Winter semis in that section.
However, you can apply and the start competing/qualifying Elem rest after Dec 1.

Serves me right for not reading your original post carefully enough!

Thanks - you have answered it from both ends. ONce qualified I will have to stick to that level but after 1/12/07 rule changes I can start afresh and try to qualify for the Elementary restricted summer regionals.

My original post was not very clear - thats for your help.
