Reading the BD rules yesterday I got just a little confused about the rules regarding registering imported horses. My share horse was imported god knows how many years ago from Holland. He only has a bog-standard British passport that was bought for him when passports became compulsory (although he is branded so we're trying to trace where he's registered). Obviously that passport says that he was born in Holland but he has no other papers to prove anything.
So, if I registered him with BD, would he be given the 400 points (he's 13yo)? So I'd have to get him assessed to reduce the number of points (we only want to do some novice and work our way up to elementary!)? Or would he not get points because it can't be proven that he was imported? Or am I missing something here?

I think I've confused myself!

Any help appreciated!

Your best bet is to phone Debbie Collins at BD - 024 76 698836

(Archie was VERY tired last night, and is now enjoying a nice day in the mud in his field!!)

Depends what age he was imported at - if he was imported as a say four year old, he would be given 35pts f he was imported as a five year old it would be more and so on. Only know this because I imported a four year old this year and even though she was unbacked - she still has points - how very clever of her!

Have you telephoned BD, they are quite helpful so worth doing so.

Ahhhhh so it goes by when they were imported and not by what age they are when you register them? (*is thinking she really must learn to read things properly*)
So I'd have to find out when he was imported... will have a chat with his "proper" owner tonight!
Thanks

And if you are unlucky enough to be lumped with a load of points you can pay £75 to get them assessed where they are then given the relevant number of points for their way of going at the moment.

Ah right well I'm 99% sure he doesn't have import papers, nor was he (I think) vaccinated, and his passport is only a few years old.

Will have a chat to his owner later and see... hopefully we'll do a bit of novice on a day ticket, hate it and go back to jumping!
Thanks for the help guys!

thanks! I've always wanted to affiliate and Di is thinking about it (she's leaving the jumping to me so may as well get on with some BD, he could do a decent elementary with a bit more work). Let's hope we can afford it with all these extra costs!
