BD Regionals Roll Call

Me Novice R at Somerford. That is on SATURDAY eek.

Jay just did 3 events in a row ( as in three running, we did not have a row), so had a week off, and has only been ridden twice in 2 weeks. Ripped a shoe off yesterday in the field and now has a filler-slipper-foot..... double eeek.:eek:

BUT getting organised now, printed off the test, asked HHO for advice ;).

Have a lesson today to see what we need to fine tune.;)

First time Regional for me too. Crossing fingers as did first Festival last year only to forget test:eek:

Whatever happens it will be and Jay on a day out :D

PS my smileys are working again :D:D:D

Ah it's nice to know there are other first timer's out there too :D.

We had our practice outing a couple of weeks ago to run through the test, which went well expect I forgot where I was going :o, however we still managed a decent score! Had a lesson last weekend and will have another this week, so feeling prepared, just debating whether to get there early for the arena walk (around 7am) when Novice restricted won't start until 12pm? I could even drive up for the arena walk then drive home and come back for my test, but seems a lot of faffing around...

Good luck everyone!

Me - Mount Ballan - Prelim

We usually go up to Addington but as Mount Ballan is only 30 minutes away... This is her 3rd regionals and we never come anywhere but it's good fun!

Me - Novice R - Somerford!
My first time so not sure what to expect, we've only being doing this since Jan...
yep as stated also a first timer. Compared to us you're an old pro. We've only been doing dressage since april.
Decided to stable overnight the day before as option to ride in arenas during friday afternoon plus arena walk in eve and next morning. Hopefully he will be a bit more relaxed by then. Last comp a week tomorrow at Keysoe. Training session tonight then another sunday before. Still wont be ready. :o

I just read this to my OH, and we have a 2 1/2 hour drive. He tells me that Jay will be fine with no arena walk, as he is NOT prepared to set off at 4am!

Fingers crossed :-)

haha well I'll tell Topaz she has to behave like an old pro, not like a deranged pogo-stick on speed :D.

Debated about stabling but seemed rather unnecessary when we're only about 40 mins away, but would have made it easier with the arena walks...

You sound like you'll have done all the right preparation, I'm just accepting what will be will be as its now only 4 days away !!!!!!!!!!

haha I think I would be saying the same as your OH if we were that far away :D, I'm luckily only 40mins away, but still not sure about the arena walk, she's a spooky wotsit so really it would be beneficial but it would either mean staying there all day, or several trips back and forth... Might see if there are any day stables as that would be more comfortable than standing on the box all day!

Keysoe - Prelim :) no outings until then now, so just got to bite the bullet and ride like a demon determined! :)
Bought him a pretty fly hat to make myself feel better - ha, hope we are outside now i guess!

I think it will be outside and guess the warmup will be in the big and small indoors. I too don't have any outings before then, and haven't ridden N39 for ages, although sometimes that is better with a horse that anticipates if you override a test beforehand - he thinks he knows best😊

Another first timer for the Somerford Regional Novice restricted!! I've been concentrating on eventing since May so haven't done a test on a surface since then and I've not really had ! Probably going to do a crap test but just going to try and enjoy it :-) I'm not sure about the arena walk.. I'm only 45 mins away, but it will be a long day!! Good luck everyone!

I am going to Addington, just hope not too early start. Doing prelim, Just don't want to come last :)

Not been able to get out of work to do a P17 test anywhere recently, just trying to do as many long arena tests as possible. I am a newbie to this BD lark, but want to beat rest of yard in how many plaques you have on your horses door!!

Good luck to all.

Yep - Somerford for the Prelim. We did the Novice Music at the Myerscough Winters but I basically forgot how to ride and let us down so I thought I'd make it easier on myself this time! Good prep - we did well competing then had a lovely time practising in a dressed arena at Northcote yesterday (pics below!), so now all I have to do is not let me elbows go rigid, by head go wonky and my brain go blank

See you there :) come say hi!

Me-Prelim at Sparsholt-just had last two outings-got a 2nd and 3rd in Novices Saturday and 2 seconds today at last run at Sparsholt with just under 74% and 73%.Last lesson Sunday then trainer warming us up Tuesday.Got a 5th last year so hoping and praying for a couple of places better this year!.Good Luck to everyone and for the First timers enjoy every minute.

Maybe should start new thread but does anyone else have to do 4 tests in one day? ( need to as I am on team and also want to do individual). Not sure how feasible it is as only done 2 tests before on same day

Not me, but my friend (who I groom for) is going to Kingston Maurward for Novice at the end of August, and she's well on the way to qualify for at least one more regional!

Sparsholt for Nov Rest on Tuesday. Will be on my own unless anyone there is free and fancies holding the video camera for me? Debating whether to get up early and do arena walk. Thinking will probably be ok outdoors. He was a knob at Winter Regionals but they were indoors. How scary can outdoors be?

Fry's in August at Prelim for me and G! My first time too and just wondering how many will be there - apparently Somerford is going to be stowed off this weekend. A friend is doing the Elementary and apparently over 100 entries in her section!!

I have entered a novice class as a warm up on the morning of our regional, but not sure if I should do it or not - he used to need a warm up, but now I'm finding his first test is his best!! Decisions! On the plus side, I just had a look at our record and we haven't been out of the top two at prelim since Spring this year, coming in front of a variety of judges at good venues, so that bodes well - I hope!! - have my fingers crossed anyway and will aim to just enjoy it! :D

I know what you mean, although I should perhaps learn the test myself! :)
