I know this has already been talked about somewhere.. but..

What regionals are the best to go to for:

Novice

Advanced Medium

I would rather go somewhere that is not too busy as my little man I have in the Novice finds such busy warm ups very scary!

Also who else is going and where!?

Does anyone have direct qualification to the Nationals?

I am doing prelim and novice restricted at Kingston Maurward. IT is a very well organised event with great arenas but the warm up is indoors and can get busy. Ive not seen any others so cant compare. This is my first time at the summer regionals as a competitor. Only ever been a spectator before.

me too!!

Got my entry form this morning so am getting nervous!

Absolutely LURVED Oldencraig. Very well run. Lovely arenas and even spooky Gen settled ok (although the flags can be a bit scary).

Going to miss going to a Regional this year - first time we havnt qualified. Gen has been having a few 'issues' we have thought best to sort out at home.

Good luck.

Off to Oldencraig again. Moved up to Medium Restricted and wonder whether they will put it in the indoor arena rather than the outside arena around the back.

It seems the Open classes are in the main arena and Restricted in the back arena. However, with their new indoor school it may all change.

However, very well run and a most enjoyable day.

We are off to Oldencraig - it is near and easy to get to; for us anyway

Good luck where ever you go and if you decide on Oldencraig come and find us.

Kingston Maurward is nice, altho you might have Jacky in your sections, and Jodie Lister - it depends if they go to Addington or not. I know Jacky did last year.

I'm at Keysoe for both days.

A few years back the standard could vary considerably across the regions. However, now that you can choose which one you go to the pros with multiple entries spread them around so that they maximise their chances of qualifying for thr Nationals. (And so that they don't end up with 5 or 6 rides in one class!)
So now I don't think there's any advantage to picking another venue unless your horse really hates your local one.

I think all the warm ups are busy due to the numbers competing although I've only done Addington and Keysoe so can't comment on the others.

Last year Keysoe caused a few problems by having 'playing' fountains between the ajacent arenas. Several horses were really spooked by them and people were not happy. Hopefully they'll not being working this year!

Unfortunately I missed out this year. Didn't get organised until too late and then in the final qualifier I was beaten by a pro, even though I got over 72%!

Maybe being dim, but how do you get direct qualification to finals?

That's bad luck!

The PSG/Inter 1 classes give you a chance of direct qualification by scoring over 65% and winning the qualifier at Premier Leagues/ Home Internationals.
At Inter 11/ GP you have to score 5/6 points over 64/63% in qualifiers or win the appropriate qualifier at a Premier league or Home International, as long as you score at least 65%.

PMSL bbmat! Now, some might call me an anorak but I'll settle for cool!

FREESTYLER, yes there should be time somewhere to meet up. Let me know if you change your haircolour or I'll not recognise you!
