Despite all the bad weather reports it turned out to be lovely. I think Emma was up all night doing a sun dance.

We didnt have the best start to the day tho. Got up late, trod in something unmentionable that the cat left on the stairs, Gen was covered in poo despite me bandaging and rugging him as much as poss., two of his plaits had 'popped' out as well. Gen was also a bit stressed as I just COULD NOT get up at 5.45am to turn him out. I do it all week and I really needed a lie in so I thought he wouldnt mind waiting till 7.30am. Hmmmmm .............

So I really didnt expect much but Gen proved us wrong.

He was really chilled when we got there.

Really chilled in the first test - and won overall (umm cant remember the score lol 67% ish I think.

Really chilled in the second test - and won overall (65.22%)

Seemed like hard marking from the judges when you consider we won each class overall. Classes were also quite big as well so OMG!! I am so pleased.

He did two nice quiet tests but its funny as he just didnt seem to 'sparkle' as much and we have had comments such as 'loads of razzamatazz' before and gets 8's (and then does something wrong and gets 5's). Today was far more consistent. Now he needs to be consistent but with the 'razzamatazz' to do even better. Still, no rearing ....... thank god...

Onwards and upwards ....

Brilliant *did giggle about the unmentionables*
Well done, sounds like a super day. Twas lovely and sunny first thing, which always makes it feel better.
Does that mean youve qualified??

Yeah both of them were novices. Not going back to Elem till he has really sorted his head out. Dont want to over push and end up with problems again - and he is only 7 so no rush.

Not yet unfortunately. We have had seconditis for a few outings and only just started competing again after 10months. So we need to get one more qualifier - fingers crossed for us everyone PLEASE.

We would SO love to go to the Summers.

Fantastic report, i got a rear mid test today so i no what you mean

Thanks dressagecrazy - makes all the hard work worth while. Hopefully we are getting over the 'blip' and the stress (resulting in the napping and rearing) will get less and less and we can move forward.

Just seen your post.. think had glass too many wine!! LOL!! This is great great news............onwards and upwards I say and yes, you take it slowly ... there is no rush whatsoever, and he obviously seems much happier......and this shows in his scores too!!! Great for you and I am SURE summers will be on the Agenda too!!! Good luck!!

Hiya DressageChick

I was certainly not saying it was bad marking and obviously VERY pleased he won. Its just that it is 'unusual' to win on a lower 60's (percent) mark thats all and often there is always one or more in the Open who scores in the higher 60's to 70's.

Sorry if I sounded like I was moaning - certainly not my intention.

p.s. Is it your place that is starting to hold BD comps now?
