Took Gin out today to ride 2 elementaries. Shes never been to this venue before and after our disaster the other week I wasnt expecting much.
We arrived in plenty of time so I tacked up and took Gin into the warm up. It was really quiet which was a huge bonus and Gin worked really well. She was really soft over her back and relaxed but thought she would liven up once she got into the test arena. It is known to be really spooky.
We went in to do our first test and although spooky she let me ride her. There are gaps down the side of the arena that all the horses were spooking at but I managed to keep control and ride her past. I wasnt expecting a great score so I was very happy with 62% and 2nd.
We warmed up for the second test but didnt stay in there very long as everyone was coming far to close and Gin began to panic. We went in for our test and Gin was a star, didnt spook and was so relaxed. She could of been a little more forward but I was just so pleased with her behaviour. In the middle of our test we had a cat join us in the arena. I was heading straight for it, I didnt know whether to stop or carry on. Gin was a complete star and just carried on. I was a little disappointed with 61% and 4th but thats life.

I had a great day and because Gin was so good I really wasnt bothered about her scores. Mum was in charge of the camera so apologies in advance.

Waiting to set off

Oh well done, particularly in dealing with the cat! Is that a very special technical type of photography, the one only mothers can do??!

Gosh yes her move must be imminent now?? Who are you going to train with? Have you decided upon anyone?

We're really getting places with H - she's getting stronger and more supple every time I sit on her -which is really great - don't know when we'll take her out but I'm hoping it won't be too far in the future - she'll really enjoy herself!

Mind you - we will be doing novice -not elementary!

Looking v smart in her comfort zone cooler, my OH has one and he loves it.

Maybe if it was cold your mum's hands were shaking - v 'interesting' action pics.
I think tigers_eye should hire out her hubby as a photographer, she could make a fortune. My OH is in the 'crap' school of photography as well so can sympathise.

Well done on the placings.

Well done to you and Gin... she looks really well honey!!!

Are you still planning on going to REC in March? I am hoping to go on 16th Feb too, need to enter actually

Have you any plans regarding who you are going to try for training?

Shes going at the end of the month but will hopefully still be in the country for a few months. Im going to start organizing clinics with Andrew Day, hes agreed to come if I get enough riders, and hopefully get across to have a few lessons with Spencer Wilton.

It would be great to see H again

Hey there! Glad to see you are out and about again. Which venue was this? I didn't realise the move was so soon, I'm not sure she's told people at our end! If she's still around for a a few more months it mightn't be such a big issue for us just yet. Count me down for the odd Andrew lesson if I can get transport organised, will probably be able to muster up a few folks from our yard too if you need the numbers let me know.
