Hi all
Just looking at rulebook, am I right in my reading that if I want to contest Petplans at prelim next year (had hoped to do this year but had a bit of a setback so we won't be ready) I can't do winter regionals at prelim next spring? Or indeed summer regionals next year? So if I hold out to have a proper bash at petplans at prelim, we would have to wait until winter regionals 2016 if wanted to compete at prelim (which seems a bit silly tbh and i would hope we might have moved up by then!). Although even if we have progressed to novice tests by next summer, if I get too many points (ha ha) we then wouldn't be able to do prelim petplans anyway?
I had thought holding out to do prelim petplans would make us more competitive than at regionals big actually we aren't that likely to be top placing at either so I might just crack on and forget petplans for now and see where we are in spring...

I would suggest if you are qualifying for Regionals then that is what you should go for, Petplans in their essence where created for those that would not qualify for the Regionals but gives them a chance to experience a big party as it were.

Yes you are correct. If you think you will be reaching the qualifying points for winter regionals and then again for summer regionals 2015 then go for regionals, as laafef said. You can then try for petplans 2015 at novice level if you were looking to move up anyway. That is what I have done this year.

Ok thanks / that's good that I had taken the meaning correctly. Agree that if we can do regionals we should move up a level for petplans. Not entirely sure that's what everyone does tho!

I did the regionals at Prelim this year and am trying to get sheets to do novice at the Pet plans. As our regional was a bit too much for pony ( atmosphere!) I'm going to do the same next year :)

Same, we've just done our Regional at Prelim, and will be doing Novice at Petplans. Did the same last year, to do the step up 'proper' is taking forever due to a few issues with the pony (more attitude than anything else!) and I don't expect to be competitive at PPs, but it's good fun.
