I thought I had read somewhere that venues have to run their classes in the same order as displayed in the BD magazine. So class 1, then 2, then 3 and so on.

Am I making this up?

I only ask because I have entered to do a Novice and Elementary qualifier at a BD show tomorrow and have just seen my times. My elementary test is at 9.45am and my novice test is at 6.34pm.

The venue has decided to start by running the elementary to Advance Medium, then prelim and Novice despite the classes being numbered 1 and 2 prelim, 3 and 4 novice, 5 and 6 elementary etc.

Should they be doing this?

nope, not true, ive been entered in class 2&3 before and done class 3 first. It can depend on what other classes are going on at the venue and other peoples time preferences on their entry forms.

I confess that I have had experience of classes swapped over too, sometimes to fit round particular judges.

However if they were going to be so far apart, I would have thought the venue might have phoned you and let you know in case you wanted to withdraw. Youre hardly going to hang around that long are u.

Those are terrible times. I know they are well within their rights to change the schedule but I would have thought that common courtesy would have meant them calling you to explain your times and giving you the opportunity to withdraw from one of the classes.
