Following on from top hates, what do you really love. I love people saying how pretty/beautiful/nice etc either or ideally both my horses are! I am a very shallow person.
Nice visitors at work. A few years ago we were waiting it with carriage at our stop, it was fairly quiet so we were stood around when this young mother came over carrying a little girl, must of been about 2. She came over to me and said she was a bit scared of horses so I said magnus was quieter and doesn't move but I'd hold his head anyway. But as she got closer she started to shake and cry. She wasn't just scared she was totally petrified, I swear I thought she was going to faint but the little girl didn't seem too bothered. I said it was ok, magnus was still asleep(!) so she managed to get herself within arm reach for the little girl so she could stroke his face and she did without hessitation. The mother was white as a sheet and full crying by now but she managed to whisper to me "I don't want to pass my fears onto my children"
Well then I nearly cried. Being a tourist place I do see more than my fair share of bloody awful parenting but this was amazing, she had good reason not to come near she was totally petrified not just scared. I never did find out why she was like that or even her name and I didn't see her again but it has always stuck with me and I doubt I'll ever forget it.
E - thank you for sharing that one: one amazing lady
.
On my part, I love going in the field and the Dizz looking up and going 'Mum!' and coming over
. She might make me walk halfway up the hill first, but she always comes.
I love going into the field when the Dizz is lying down and her being chilled enough with me to stay down when I'm near.
I love the whinnies and whickers she does when she sees me - it probably translates into 'Gis a Polo', but hey
.
I love it when I'm on her and can feel her striding out, full of life and joy yet so biddable.
I love it when people compliment daughter on her riding - she has worked so hard and has put up with me yelling 'Hands! Heels!'
. I'm a bit of a perfectionist
. Poor lass is now having to learn that once you know where your hands should be, there are often times, especially when riding youngsters, when you hands need to be in different places to the normally correct one
.
I love it when people compliment Little Cob
. Daughter has worked so hard, and stuck on him even in situations when I would have jumped off
. Daughter was practically a complete beginner when we got the then three and a half year old LC
. She has learnt, and managed to teach him in the process. I love her for what she has become through her own grit and determination
.
P.S. Okay, I love her anyway lol, but you know what I mean
Don doesn't know me well enough to call me "mum" yet - but I'm working on it
He loves being groomed, which is great cos I love grooming! I think he's starting to appreciate the one on one attention he's getting now as I can spend as long as I want brushing him, and he puts that dopey "aahhhh that's nice" look on his face
We take our disabled riders (students) on a beach ride at the end of college in the summer. Their faces when the horses are splashing through the waves. Seeing them would soften the hardest of hearts. Priceless.
I love it that when I get back from work in the evening and slam the car door they both let out a huge whinney of welcome (although in my heart I know its probably a food related whinney really
)
I love their wonderful horsey smell
I love it when my mare thinks we have come to a cantering place and she flashes her eyes and her old ears go out to the side, then she will look for something (anything even imaginary) that has to be hopped over like a tall bit of grass or a little rut. The hopping over it means she mysteriously ends up in canter (quite unintentionally of course
I love Dominion's smell. When I am really upset, I can just bury my head in his mane and it calms me down. I have been known to sniff his saddle which I keep at home! Its a comforting smell. I do like the smell of my other horse, but have only had him a few weeks, whereas Dominion I have owned for 18 years, so we have shared a lot of life changes and memories.
