As usual I am financially challenged ATM but want to start entering events this month. Has anyone experience of using day tickets?

I have this idea in my mind that I will end up getting ballotted if I enter on a day ticket (I do know the rules about how events should ballot by the way) - but my first event planned is Cleobury Mortimer, who have put N/A for balloting last year (did they not run the May event? Can't remember...)

If it comes down to it I can not buy breakdown cover for the car this month and affiliate me and the horse... or just do me, and buy a couple of day tickets for him then do half a year for him.... so complicated when you have no money

I've used tickets in the past and haven't had real problems with ballotting, it's difficult to get runs at the very early events but through the year that is not such a problem. Only really at very popular events might you get balloted, it's always worth offering to help on the day you aren't competing in these instances.

mmmm, had considered that but CM is quite a drive from me - I would prefer to go to West Wilts (easier XC course!) where I would volunteer, but friend with lorry wants to go to CM!!!

Last year's CM May event was rained off I think?

I did my first year on tickets and had loads of problems with getting ballotted out. Did 2 at the end of last year on tickets and offered to help at both which got me in, then this year have registered as I don't have enough annual leave to help at every event I want to run at!

I have evented on Day tickets and never been ballotted. I did Bicton PN, Larkhill PN, Gatcombe Nov, and West Wilts Intro twice.

I used day tickets for my horses the first half of the season last year as only did a few events i never had any problems if you have never evented before you get disocunt on your first 4 tickets for the rider.

Good luck at CM
may see you there

I did a season at PN on tickets and was never balloted at Nutwell Court, Bricky, Urchinwood and Bath and West.
