At our ODE event yesterday Zoom and I were eliminated for stepping outside the boards. Someone in the class above me stepped outside the boards and was not eliminated (we got chatting by the SJ warm-up and I got her really worried since she had done the same). They were running it according to BE rules but I can't find anywhere what the rule is

Can someone clarify please.

The boards were not fixed......just in case that makes a difference

Anyhoo, I'm not too fussed since we were never in with a shot and were allowed to do all three phases.

What I am a bit annoyed about is the judge asked me if I wanted to continue but they didn't mark my sheet

Zoom was very wound up so I wouldn't have bothered but wanted to see what I would have got.

I guess they meant that I could continue for schooling purposes......but also, when I got my sheet they hadn't marked the last two movements before I was eliminated!!

I double-checked the video and there were two movements that I performed before being eliminated that she didn't mark (well probably marked but didn't write down). It cost alot of money so I'm a bit peeved.

All I got was a sheet with the first movement saying 'very resistant' (

naughty Zoom) and then the rest crossed out.

Not sure about BE rules re stepping out, but the whole thing sounds weird. Whatever the rules, it seems a waste of time not to mark a test she was allowing you to continue with! Very frustrating!

If the boards are continuous (no gaps) then stepping out is elimination. If the boards are intermittent, e.g. just at the letters and in the corners, then I think you get penalties for stepping outside (2 for the first time, 4 for the second time) and the third time in one test is elimination.

Boo! Then we shouldn't have been eliminated!! We only stepped out once and the rest of the test was crap.....but we did it all!!

I know it's only unaffiliated but for forty odd quid it would be nice to have a test sheet with some actual comments on it.

as above, if there are gaps in the boards and you ooze out of a gap and back in again before the next board, the judge usually just ignores it.... i've done it on baby horses and never been eliminated!
i'd be very annoyed. did they let you sj and xc? if not, i'd ask for money back...

They did let me go SJ and XC so I did get my monies worth. It would have just been nice to have a test sheet......however low the scores!

Hey-ho, that's stressage for you!

I would write to the even organiser, you can't have one rule for one and not another....if the rule is a rule that they were using in the first place. Hopefully it won't happen to future competitors, they need to know if they are not doing things correctly.

They were Very mean, and not to give comments for dressage was bad they couldnt be bothered but at least you did the sj and Zoomy .. Zoomed the XC good brave girlie !!
