Right, this is probably going to be really long and rambley but...
I've been eventing at 80/90cm this season and I want to take my girl to a BE 90 at some point
I am not a member of be so I would have to get a day pass which by the end is going to be £42. I've read on the be website that this expires by December, and I don't want to lose my money.
However I have also read that day passes get balloted first, so how likely am I to get in ?
I'm looking at going in September or October and I've worked out that I have the chance to try and get into three. But how likely is it that u will get into one, because I can't afford to throw £40 away!!
Also is the standard much different between be and unaffiliated 90?
Thanks :)

At this time of year your likely to get in with hard ground and injuries etc!

Best way to get in if your on a ticket is to offer to help on the day your not competing. Helpers avoid the ballots. Just say your help if you can avoid the ballot, problem solved. Also BE mag will say if event balloted the previous year!

I'd say standards are generally more consistent than unaffiliated and courses safer with proper checks done. I'd say they were less technical than some unaffiliated events, unaff can be really hit and miss though!

I have entered Borde Hill as my first ever ODE (unaff or otherwise), and have offered to help on Sunday, so they have said I won't get balloted.
I have been told that the course is quite big and bold, Sj on undulating ground, and dressage on a slope, so should be fun and games, but my aim is to enjoy it, and get round-lol.
I paid £10 for my day membership, and £10 for my training pass (I am sure I did!)

I was on a ticket last year and had no trouble getting into the 4 events that I wanted. I did MK in July, keysoe in August and then BCA and LD end of the season. I've found theres quite a bit of difference between BE and UA but mainly in the organisation and presentation rather than the standard of courses.
