I am planning our belated season.... Dolly will do the Frickley BE80T and assuming that goes well we will be looking for a BE90 for her. But a reasonably kind one. It's a toss up between Aston le Walls and Llanymynech. Any advice on those?

I found ALW to be more technical. It is flat, on good strides and the ground will be good. If you look at results, there are usually many clears.

LL did look more beefy, but I too found it rode well. Also quite flat, not as technical. But, that was a few years ago now.

Dolly is clever with her feet, turns on a 6 pence and happily jumps an an angle. So a smaller but more technical course might suit her more than a beefier 90? Mainly because the 90 might intimidate Katie I think. It is the first one for both pony and rider. They have already jumped clear round the 80 at Eland 4 times in either hunter trials or ODEs. And clear at Speetley and just a green stop at the water at Frickley so I think pony will be fine as long as Katie rides confidently. So whichever course looks nicer to riders would be best I think.

I haven’t done LLanymynech but am planning on Aston le walls being my first 90 as have ridden there before & think it is a lovely, inviting course

I don’t know LLanymynech but Aston is a pretty reliable upgrade venue.
The courses are generally shorter, flat and on the softer side. Not excessively technical. They have installed a huge area of all weather for both dressage and showjumping.
