I was wondering if any of you (Hattikins springs to mind!) could tell me how this process works? I missed it having lived abroad, but there is a kid at my yard who is 14 next year and wants to do BE, and being at boarding school has limited time with her horse so they want to find out well in advance.

ok well ask BE to be sent a junior accreditation pack-this will list everything u need to know in it from the accredited trainers to the form u need to fill in and the levels at each age ur allowed to do-take it from there and it is really simple to fill in etc. basically u need to be able to do an adequate dressage test, be safe sjing to either intro, PN or novice standard depending on which u want to be accredtied for, then go xc safely at that height too - this must be done infront of an accredited trainer or by video whichever they prefer. then they will sign the form to whichever level they think u are safe to and u have to send it to ur regional co ordinator who i think sends it back to u-and u photocopy it lots and send it to BE

Ok brill, thank you both! Prob best if we try to sort it out over the winter so that she doesn't end up not being able to do anything over easter. I'd say she could be respectable at PN level at the moment, and I suppose if ready to move up to JRNs next summer she does the process again? I know your stuff hadn't arrived back in time Hattikins - how long has it taken since getting your pack?

the whole process from the first signing to the regional coordinator and back to u and then onto BE usually takes about 2/3 weeks so make sure u do it plenty in advance of the first event

Tigers eye, you are in Herts aren't you. If you get Val Gingell to do it (she is area JRN coordinator) you can cut out the middleman. She will accredit someone at he parents place just outside Royston, Herts. Her number is on the list of trainers, she is very nice too!

She will have a look at the horse over a variety of fences and sign the form for 2 levels. ATM the rider has to be in the year of their 14th birthday (so 2007 for your friend) However next year the rules are changing.

When my daughter did it last year Val signed her for PN and Nov , the whole process took half an hour and she only jumped 9 fences.
