What are the rules and regulations re placings for BE classes? Until recently, I've always been to events where they've placed to 10th. However, I was advised at an event yesterday that they placed to 6th only. Seems a bit mean, given the fact entrants paid £65...

Sorry, just a moan which probably seems petty.

It seems to be up to the event how many rosettes they give out. There are rules about prize money though. I often find that it's the smaller events that give rosettes to 10th place to encourage people to come back, whereas the larger events just go down to 6th. I totally agree with you though, when everyone has paid £65 to enter you would think they could afford a rosette!

Me too! Quite pleased with 9th in only my second Pre-Novice.

Nic01, did you have any problems on the xc? There seemed to be all sorts of issued on the Intro xc. PN was certainly very technical with lots of thinking required!

Prize money is 1 for every 5 dressage starters, points every 1 in 4 (and double clears of course) I think, and rosettes is up to them. I would have thought if they have class sponsors, even if they're not putting up much money, it's better to have their name on 10 rosettes rather than 5 if you see what I mean...

When people say that their horse has been placed in BE do they mean in the top 10 (if that is where rosettes go up to) or do they mean placed as per the table of 'Placed Horses' on the BE website? (As opposed to those who had to retire/withdraw)
I only ask because according to that table me and my 'orse are always placed...albeit around the 20th poistion! We are consistantly crap in the dressage (3 x 45 penalties last year) but she always finishes with minimal (if any) jumping penalties. I swore blind after my last PN dressage test at Ardingly last September I was giving up BE....then we went XC round the meatiest PN course I'd seen and she was a superstar! So here I am again in 2006 about to BE again!! Does anyone else out there find it a horrible expensive addiction??!

They've changed the prize money rule, its not 1 for every 5 starters it is now either 6th or less depending on starters, agree about the rosettes and sponsers names, I would pay the extra £5 to get more rosettes
