So how do they work??

I was just browsing through the results from little Downham (im bored and its interesting!!) and I noticed that points arent award to all levels...anyone know why??

They started at Novice but not all who got placed got points?? I understand some who are not british but for example why does 1st place in OI get 12 points, 2nd 10 and down in 2s til 9th then 10th and 11th dont get any points but 12th does and so on????

No points at all until Novice level, then points for placings - how far down these go depends on the number of people in the section, eg at Novice they start at 6 for first, 5 for second etc etc and keep going down like that. You can also get points for double clears, so the ones you mentioned may have gone DC?

POints vary from level to level but only start from novice upwards. You get points up to a certain placing and this also goes up with the levels. So at novice you get points up to 6th (i think or is it 7th?!)

But you also get points for double clears, at novice you get 1 point for a dc but i think its more higher up. So you could finish 15th but go double clear so still get a place....

Sorry i can't remember the exact numbers

Point are awarded to double clears whether, so a combination who went clear would get 2 points even though they were placed below a combination who didn't go clear and weren't placed high enough for points. Does that make sense?

Points are awarded for novice level upwards.
They can be awarded for a place:
Novice
1st 6
2nd 5
3rd 4 etc etc etc then after 6th they can award points to lower places but that depends on the number of starters.

Intermediate is the same but with double pts eg:
1st 12
2nd 10 etc etc

The other way to get points even if you are not placed is to do a double clear then you get 1 at novice level, 2 at intermediate etc etc.
Hope this helps! Not sure if ive made it very clear!
