Hutton BE was cancelled well in advance of the event - on monday, and the competition was saturday/sunday....

My stabling cost £25...and today i received only £10 back!!

My jaw dropped...?!

Is this normal? as i feel totally stung...!!

We did stabling through BE for Hutton (1) and found out that the people providing the stabling were only given £15 of the £25 stabling fee!!!!

They told us to phone them direct next time and they would charge us the same £15 but we wouldn't have to pay an extra £10 per horse to BE.

well i did phone - and found out that after a long consideration, they decided £15 was a fair amount to take from each person stabling
a) to cover admin and
b) to compensate those providing the stabling...!
apparently some of those providing stabling had ordered additional shavings for stabling horses, and also another had ordered extra hay....??!!!
I've never stabled anywhere that hay has been provided...and so what if they paid for shavings...they will get the use of them at some stage over the next few months...

Well and truely stung!

That is terrible. My Father is a BE steward, I will mention it to him. So at least grumpy vibes get sent back to BE about it. I stable nearly everywhere I go as i live miles from anywhere. Have paid for 2 stables for 2 nights for Allerton that is cancelled this weekend. I am fully expecting a 100% refund.

we stabled at solihull1 and 2. at £30 night. Solihull1 was on site and suited us just fine - first time away, and quite an adventure. Solihull2, we were 20 mins away, but had fab facilities, school etc,and were allowed to leave little one behind to save him stood on lorry all day, then drive home, as we were competing both days. However, our host was also not getting full whack from venue - we will book direct with her next time. I think eventing is expensive enough, without someone making extra out of the stabling.
