I've decided i'm going to aim new boy at Pulborough training event in October. Had a fab lesson on him today and think i could probably get him ready to intro by then but determined not to rush him so thought would do training for a bit of fun as it's local for us.....Then hopefully he can come out next season ready to win

So has anyone done a training event? I've never been to an event running one so not sure what to expect course wise. I know its 80cm but do they make it up to height, lots of fillers etc? Whats xc like? I do know Pulborough so could prob picture course if someone did it last year...?

Also how long is the xc, does it go down to the water? I think it'll be a shock for him to do so much work in one day

Thanks

Pulborough did not! It was probably at it's biggest 2'6, very inviting and if Madam (the worlds worst sjer) got round then anyone can!

The course is a similar length to the intro - sharing some fences. There are a few simple logs and rolltops to start, a ditch to palisade, angled (but tiny) tyres, splash through the water, double of steps, brush etc.

Hope this helps

I have some photos of Stafford and AUW's training classes if thats any help!
I think by the sounds of it, they were slightly tougher than other ones, the SJ was up to height and a couple of the XC fences were closer to intro height!
I've forgotten what questions you asked by the time I had written this reply, and it wasn't to your original post, ooooops!!

Ooooo thanks any pics would be very useful. As i said i think i could get him ready to intro so even if it is up to height i would hope he'd be ok

. but obviously don't want a nasty suprise when i turn up!!

Well I don't think my horse will ever be doing Intro, and nothing there gave me collywobbles (apart from some of the width of the fences

)
Here's a few just to give you a rough idea!

This was the widest fence we did at either of the events!

This was roughly the height of everything (My horse is 17hh for comparision!) There was quite a few fillers.

The middle is the training and the one to the left is the intro, for height comparision.

Pretty much as big or as wide as anything we jumped!

So nothing majorly scary!

Thanks that is really helpful....trying to think where the ditch to palisade is? Can only picture the bigger ditches there....?

Erm it was fence number 6 - I can't remember a great deal. Mare was only shod infront and we were last to go xc and this was the fence we crashed at

. It looks more like a log then a ditch, it's very inviting as horses do not notice the ditch until over! Pulborough was definitely the easier, L.M was alot more up to height and on further research was most of the old intro course. It's lovely though and we'll be there again this year, hopefully with a chance of a rossie
