BE vs BD Dressage - marking difference?

I was wondering whether I should expect any difference in %'s between BE tests and BD tests? I bought my horse in April and did a half season of BE at BE90 level with scores usually around low 30's, and previously was doing unaffiliated dressage scoring low 70's in Prelim and mid 60's Novice. I am having a go at our first BD Prelim test on Sunday and unsure how I should expect to score, i.e. what I should be happy/unhappy to see when I get my score sheet? Thanks in advance!

I think you will find it reasonably consistent.

Dressage marking in eventing allows some tolerance/leniency for the fact that you are often presenting a test on an inconsistent grass surface plus to some extent a little leniency for exuberance.

So whilst from that you might infer your scores might be slightly better BE than BD, in reality I don't find that so much, as performing a pure dressage test on a good surface 'generally' makes for a more relaxed horse with more confidence in the footing and thus a better way of going.

In your shoes I wouldn't go down the route of comparing your BE & BD scores, but rather concentrate on the comments you get out BD, with the aim of improving those areas. Hopefully when you get back out BE this will then be reflected in those scores.

Brilliant thank you! I usually get very similar comments across the board but recently seem to have turned a corner so will see if this reflects! Thank you :-)
